# Channel metadata

## **Channel Metadata**

### **Description**

Create and edit custom metadata fields for channels. This is useful for associating information with a whole channel, such as a team name or website.

All data fields will appear in Video Asset Management in each channel's edit area, where editors can assign appropriate values. Consult the [Channel Metadata](/v1/docs/channels) article in the User Manual for more information.

### Create a custom channel metadata field

1. Select **Channel Metadata** in the navigation pane.
2. Click **Add**.
3. Enter a name for the field.
4. Select a data type from the drop-down menu.

7. Click **Save**.

Select fields will be available in Video Asset Management in each channel's edit area as a text field with a searchable list of options.

To rename a custom channel metadata field, simply enter the desired name in the edit pane.

#### **Add options to a multi-select field**

1. Click the **Add select option** button.
2. Type the text for your option into the text field. Each option must be unique (case insensitive).
3. Press *Enter*.
4. To add more options, repeat steps 1-3.
5. To delete an option, click the trash button to the right of the text field.

These options will now be available in Video Asset Management in each channel's edit area.

### **Delete a channel metadata field:**

1. Click the *Delete* button next to the channel metadata field you want to delete.
2. If you are sure you want to delete the channel metadata field, click *Delete* again.
3. Save your changes.
