# Geoblocking

## How to geo-block video content

Prevent viewers in certain countries or regions from watching your video content by implementing geo-blocking.

> **Why geo-block video content?**
>
> There are a few reasons why you might want to geo-block video content:
>
> - **Country-specific copyright:** You may not have the rights to distribute your video content in certain countries.
> - **Licensing agreements:** You may have a licensing agreement that restricts where you can distribute your video content.
> - **Compliance:** You may need to geo-block video content to comply with laws and regulations in certain countries.

### Enable geo-blocking

- Click Security Policies in the navigation bar.
- Select an existing [security policy](/v1/docs/security-policy) or create a new one.
- In the editing area, select the Geo-blocking checkbox.

- Optionally, enable the Whitelist mode.

If whitelist mode is enabled, viewers from the listed countries and regions can watch your video content.

Enter the country codes in the text box.

### **How does geo-blocking work?**

Geo-blocking works by identifying the viewer's IP address and comparing it to a list of blocked countries or regions. If the viewer's IP address is on the blocked list, they will not be able to watch your video content.
